The Simple Meal Prep System That Saves My Week

Some weeks feel like a blur of school runs, naps, laundry, and trying to keep everyone fed without losing my mind in the kitchen. I used to think meal prep meant spending an entire Sunday cooking elaborate meals, but the truth is much simpler.

Now I focus on preparing just a few basics that make the rest of the week easier. A pot of rice or quinoa in the fridge. Roasted vegetables ready to reheat. A simple protein like grilled chicken or slow-cooked beef that can turn into wraps, bowls, or quick dinners. Nothing fancy — just small things that remove the pressure when the day gets busy.

What I’ve learned is that meal prep isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating a little breathing room for the week ahead. When dinner is halfway done before the day even begins, the whole house feels calmer.

Some weeks it works beautifully. Other weeks we still end up eating scrambled eggs for dinner — and honestly, that’s okay too.
